Students spend the majority of class time preparing recipes, practicing culinary techniques, and working in a commercial kitchen environment under instructor supervision.

Overview

The Culinary Arts Pathway provides real-world training in a commercial kitchen environment where students develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed in professional food service.

Students receive hands-on experience in:

  • Food preparation techniques 
  • Knife skills and kitchen safety 
  • Sanitation and food handling 
  • Menu planning 
  • Cooking methods and techniques 
  • Baking fundamentals 
  • Food presentation and plating 
  • Inventory and kitchen organization 
  • Customer service 
  • Teamwork in a commercial kitchen 
  • Time management in a fast-paced environment 
  • Professional kitchen operations 

Students learn industry standards while preparing meals in a collaborative environment that reflects the expectations of today's food service employers. 

Earn an Industry-Recognized Certification

As part of the pathway, students prepare for the ServSafe® Food Handler certification, an industry-recognized credential that demonstrates knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.

This certification is valued by employers throughout the food service industry and is often required for employment in restaurants, hospitality, healthcare, and institutional food service.

Refund Policy

Please review our refund policy before enrolling.

  • 100% refund if you withdraw before the first class meeting. 
  • 75% refund (excluding books and materials)
    • In class sessions: you must withdraw within the first four class sessions. 
    • Blended online or online class: you must withdraw by the end of the second week
  • No refunds after the fourth class session.
