Vista Adult School’s Pharmacy Technician program provides students with the education and training to work as a skilled licensed Pharmacy Technician in just 18 weeks.

Our Comprehensive Pharmacy Technician Program is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in both retail and hospital pharmacies. This 18-week course provides a robust foundation in pharmacy principles and practices, preparing students to apply for their license, employment in a variety of pharmacy settings.

Course Overview:

  • Retail and Hospital Pharmacy Readiness: Acquire essential skills for working in both retail and hospital pharmacy settings, from the history of pharmacy to advanced distribution systems. In addition, learn advanced topics such as hospital distribution, inpatient dispensing systems, and medication distribution, essential for hospital settings.
  • Practical Compounding: Learn extemporaneous and sterile I.V. compounding through practical, firsthand training.
  • Pharmaceutical Management: Overview of inventory control, fiscal management, and insurance billing.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare Knowledge: Explore microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmaceutical math.
  • Certification Preparation: The course meets the requirements for obtaining a California Pharmacy Technician license and includes preparation for the PTCB national exam, enhancing your qualifications and employability.   • 100% refund if you withdraw before the first class meeting. 
  • 75% refund (excluding books and materials)
    • In class sessions: you must withdraw within the first four class sessions. 
    • Blended online or online class: you must withdraw by the end of the second week
  • No refunds after the fourth class session.

Healthcare Essentials

$60 (Book included in class fee)

This introductory course is a prerequisite for most of the medical programs at Vista Adult School, including Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Medical Insurance Billing Certificated Programs, and Medical Front Office. The course consists of modules in medical terminology, computer literacy, health and safety, body structures and function, medical math, ethical and legal responsibilities, and success strategies.
